News Thank You RidgePoint Church During the weekend of April 15 and 16 People Helping People was blessed with many willing and working hands. A huge THANKS to everyone who served! On April 15 a group of 4 employees from Gordon Food Service and other PHP volunteers began the renovation on the newly acquired People Helping People home located at 917 2nd street in Pullman. Under the direction of PHP board members, the carpet was removed (along with thousands of staples that were used instead of the usual tack strips). The old tile floors in the kitchen and bath were also removed in preparation for the installation of the new flooring. Damaged and graffiti wall board was removed and ceilings were scraped. By late afternoon the old was out and the new was ready to be brought in. The supplies were neatly stacked in one of the bedrooms ready for installation by the Saturday work crew. Thanks Gordon Foods group, you provided a wonderful surprise and a great jump start to the Saturday Ridge Point work group.
Even though the skies were heavy with dark clouds, the forecast gloomy, and the rain kept coming and going, spirits were high and energy was electric (well after our first cup of coffee that is) on Saturday morning. Over 30 persons participated in the Ridge Point Church work blitz. Divided into two groups with one group continued the work at the People Helping People house along with insulating the PHP building and the second group tackled some wet and dirty yard clean up.
Thanks to a few other willing workers we were able to finish insulating the ceiling of the People Helping People building. This should help with both the ice buildup and the huge propane bills PHP experienced this winter. Those who volunteered to work with that itchy stuff deserve a HUGE THANKS! Another crew helped a local family with the spring clean up of their yard. The family showed their appreciation with many thanks and a big hug. The local county park that is enjoyed by many Pullman residents during the summer months was raked and made ready for fishing and family enjoyment. A special thanks goes to the kids in the group who gave up their Saturday to serve with People Helping People they were a huge help cheering on the adults with their fun and vivacious spirits.
During the entire month of February, the members of RidgePoint Church once Please accept our deepest appreciation and thanks for your love and generosity

Son Life Camp The snow may have been flying but the hearts of the Love Inc. staff were warmed by the giving spirit of the Son Life Camp volunteers. After traveling from the Middleville and Caledonia areas, 3 adults and 4 teens worked hard, cleaning the waiting area and offices of Love Inc. which are located in the People Helping People of Pullman building. Their hard work was especially appreciated by the staff of Love Inc. since their part time staff rarely has time for the deep cleaning their waiting area needed. Having a clean facility to welcome persons needing assistance with those things most of us take for granted, is wonderful. A huge thanks goes out to the Son Life Camp volunteers!

Article written by Jon M. Brouwer, Grand Rapids Press, can be found at: 169 Pullman families were blessed with Christmas bags consisting of gifts and food. Thanks to the generosity of individuals and groups from RidgePoint church, located in Holland MI, these low income families from the Pullman area had a Christmas to remember. Included in each bag was a Christmas ham provided by an anonymous donor. The gifts were distributed at a party hosted by Love Inc. and People Helping People volunteers held at the Pullman Elementary School. A thank you video created for the RidgePoint families can be viewed at, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BRbsvqEzZ8w ****************************************************** Wednesday’s Work Crew The People Helping People Wednesday work crew continues its work. Every Wednesday 3-5 volunteers head south to Pullman and the People Helping People building for a morning of service. The main responsibility of this group is to assess the home repair requests that are submitted through Love Inc. This group then assigns the request to the appropriate volunteer group or groups, depending on the size of the job and the skill level needed. Often this group completes small or emergency requests themselves.

“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink. I was a stranger and you invited me in.” Matthew 25:35 People Helping People was privileged to host the Hungry For Christ food distribution at our facility this past Summer. Hungry for Christ believes that no one should have to go with out and demonstrates their love for people through acts of kindness. They follow the example of Jesus who turned no one away and neither will they. People Helping People would like to thank Hungry For Christ for allowing us to host their event and to help with our ministry of building and supporting the families and community of Pullman Michigan.
